or an association in your area shouldn't be too difficult. It takes a little looking around and talking to people.

Getting started in real estate investing is easier when you get involved with your local investor club. Frequently investor clubs may not actually have a phone number listed under the club name. It may be listed under an individual's name. This is often the case because the people who operate them generally work on a volunteer basis and may not have established an actual operating entity.

The simplest way might be to run a classified ad like this:

"Looking for local real estate investing group. Please call with details."

in your local weekly or "penny saver" type paper under real estate wanted and see who calls you.

Investing Groups Are Getting More Sophisticated

Joining a local group is probably a really good idea for the beginning investor or if you are a recent transplant to a city or geographic area. You can meet some very savvy people who have experience in the local market and who already have established a network.

Slowly but surely clubs around the country are joining the information age and developing a web presence so that people can find them easily, but in many areas, they aren't there yet.
