Real Estate Investing Books

Real estate investing books can save you a great deal of time and energy if you read the right books before you screw up the deal. You can always read them after the fact if you prefer to learn that way.

What's the old addage about an 'ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure'?

When it comes to reading, I think it is essential to read as much as you can about real estate investing because there is so much to learn. You have to learn the terminology and the language because it can make a great deal of difference financially.

Be sure to read the right stuff.

Diane Kennedy's real estate investing books

include this one.

We met her three times in Seattle and we also did a one hour tax planning interview by phone. We can talk about Dianne Kennedy because we hired her firm to be our CPA.

We did it for three reasons:

1) She's really smart and fun. She's a member of MENSA and actually did trainings around the country for the IRS to educate individuals and small business owners on how to take advantage of real estate tax loopholes.

Needless to say, she knows about the tax implications of real estate investing.

2) She is a real estate investor herself and she understands what it takes to make money - and keep it.

3) She's Robert Kiyosaki's CPA so I figured she's doing something right.

Peter Conti is a really smart guy and a sharp seminar promoter and mentor - and has been for some time. I haven't read his real estate investing books - but I plan to because I know Peter is for real.

We met Peter at Ron LeGrand's Seminar Promoter's Bootcamp in February 2003 in Jackonsville. He has a series of real estate investing books including these:

Making Big Money Investing
in Foreclosures: Without Money or Credit.

Making Big Money Investing in
Real Estate: Without Tenants, Banks, or Rehab Projects

Peter Conti seems to be an unpretentious individual, extremely focused - yet quiet and observant. He exudes an air of confidence from being very good at what he does and as a result of thinking about (in depth) what is important and what his bigger purpose is in life.

He is approachable but also very selective.

Jay Mitton is one savvy attorney. The first time we heard him speak was in Seattle at the Peter Lowe Success Conference in February 2001 - for a captivating 20 minutes and were so impressed we bought his asset protection program the following Saturday.

Then we saw him speak again, in greater depth subequently in Las Vegas at Ron LeGrand's MOS Bootcamp in June 2002. He was the first guy to get an MBA in asset protection along with a law degree and is often referred to as the father of asset protection. I've heard younger attorney's bad mouth him, but I like his stuff.

This book is pretty dry reading - unlike the passion in his personal presentations - but the information is very important for real estate investors.

Cover Your Assets:
Lawsuit Protection
by Jay W. Mitton, MBA, J.D

We are in a new age, an age of vicarious liability and if you don't know what that means you'd better buy this book. That's why real estate investors need asset protection.
